Why do the threaded rods (spindles) on bushing tools break?
Spindles break due to excessive friction and heat buildup when high torque is applied to dirty or dry threads. Inferior tools also use “cut threads” which weaken the steel structure.
The VIKTEC Solution: We manufacture our spindles using Rolled Thread Technology, which compresses the steel grain structure for superior strength. Additionally, all our nuts are equipped with heavy-duty thrust bearings to reduce friction, allowing more torque to be transferred to the bushing rather than fighting thread resistance.
Can I use an impact wrench with press and pull sleeve kits?
Generally, it is NOT recommended to use impact wrenches on mechanical screw kits, as the rapid hammering creates friction heat that can weld the nut to the bolt.
Expert Advice from VIKTEC: While our Grade 10.9 spindles are incredibly tough, we advise using a ratchet or breaker bar for longevity. However, for customers requiring faster operation, VIKTEC offers Hydraulic Upgrades (12-Ton to 20-Ton Hollow Rams) that are compatible with our sleeve sets, allowing for effortless pneumatic operation.
How do I choose the right size sleeve for a silent block?
You need a pressing sleeve that matches the outer metal ring of the bushing (to push it out) and a receiving sleeve that is slightly larger than the bushing (to catch it).
