Heavy-Duty Steering System Removal & Installation Tools

Steering components like inner tie rods and pitman arms are often located in tight, inaccessible spaces and are seized tight due to road grime and rust. Standard wrenches cannot reach them, and generic pullers often shatter under the high torque required to break the taper seal.

Ningbo Dicong Machinery (VIKTEC) engineers steering tools that solve these access and durability problems. From our long-reach tie rod tubes to our conical pitman arm pullers, every tool is built to withstand professional garage use without rounding off fasteners or snapping.

Technical Specifications

Tie Rod Adapter Material Machined Carbon Steel (Black Oxide Finish)
Tie Rod Tube Length Extra Long (up to 20 inches) for deep reach
Applicable Vehicles Cars, SUVs, Light Trucks (Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda)

Why do universal inner tie rod tools slip?

The Problem: Many inner tie rods have no “flats” (they are perfectly round) or very narrow flats. Cheap “clamp-style” tools rely on friction and often slip when the tie rod is seized, rounding off the surface.

The VIKTEC Solution: We offer two professional solutions:

1. Master Adapter Kits: These use specific “Crowfoot” adapters (e.g., 29mm, 32.5mm, 33.6mm) that lock positively onto the tie rod flats.

2. Universal Cam-Action Tool: For round tie rods, our tool features a hardened, serrated cam gear that digs tighter into the metal as you turn. The more torque you apply, the harder it grips.

Why do pitman arm pullers break so often?

The Cause: Pitman arms are tapered and torqued to over 150 ft-lbs, then rusted in place. Budget pullers are made from brittle cast iron. When used with an impact gun, the casting shatters violently.

VIKTEC Durability: We do not use cast iron for high-tension pullers. Our Pitman Arm Pullers are Drop-Forged from Alloy Steel and heat-treated. This forging process aligns the metal grain, giving it the elasticity to absorb the shock of an impact wrench without cracking.

How do I spread a steering knuckle without damaging it?

The Risk: Hammering a chisel into the steering knuckle pinch bolt slot can crack the aluminum or cast iron knuckle, ruining an expensive part.

Safe Removal: VIKTEC manufactures a mechanical Steering Knuckle Spreader Tool. This compact tool fits into the slot and uses a screw drive to expand the knuckle gently and evenly. It works on Audi, BMW, Ford, and VW struts, ensuring the shock absorber slides out effortlessly without hammer damage.

Do you have tools for replacing steering rack bushings?

Yes. Steering rack mounting bushings often wear out, causing play in the wheel.

Specialized Offerings: VIKTEC offers specific Steering Rack Bushing Press Kits designed to press out the old bushing and install the new one while the rack is still on the car (where possible). This is a huge labor saver for mechanics, and offering this niche tool can differentiate your catalog from general competitors.
